Smoked
stout beer, spiced with sage. Bamberg-like, at low
fermentation. Black colour with red ruby back reflections, alcohol
level 5%, obtained by German malts. The initial taste poorly "hoped"
gives way to an aftertaste slightly smoked balanced by the presence
of the sage (biologically produced), with tonic and digestive
properties. Excellent combined with strong tastes (like mixed meat
grill and mature cheeses); "meditation" beer if drinked by
night or during the cold winter's days.

"Via Mercatorum" is a
term already in use during Middle Ages to define a group of ways
that linked up Seriana Valley with Brembana Valley, two marvellous
valley in Bergamo's area. A 1392 A.D. document mentions the "via
merchadenti", the merchant's way, a long time used for
commerce (until its slow decline because of the road Priula's
construction by Venetians in XVI century). Today some sections of
this ancient way are still practicable on foot. There's a
re-utilization project to make usable this route by a tenable
tourism interested in discovery places, culture, tradition and
tastes of Bergamo and its province. Our beer, like this historic
way's name, evokes tastes that vanish in ancient time.

"Balňss" is a word in
Bergamo's dialect that means sly one. The term declined in the
feminine, fits perfectly to this beer, that while is flattering you by
honey sweetness, in the meantime is corrupting your soul and body by the
double malt strenght.

The "Strada Priula" was
constructed at the end of XVI century by the Venice Republic, at
that time extending its rule as far as Bergamo. The name of this
road comes from the podestŕ Alvise Priuli, supporter of this Venice
strategical project: actually the road of Brembana Valley, allowed
the link between Venice Republic and the rest of Europe through Valtellina
(in those days ruled by the Grigioni). This road sweetly slides, as our
lager beer, leading us from Bergamo to Europe.

is suitable for delicate courses (first courses, fish, desserts). Excellent combined with

In English Bergamo's dialectal terms "mia
sčmper" could be translated into "not always",
sometimes. Actually, because of the delicate processes of production
and particularly of preservation, this wheat beer is produced only
in winter time. Not always, in conclusion!
